The Registrar - General’s Department was established under the Ordinance 1950 during the Colonial days. It became a department of the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General in 1961. Our aim is to become a highly progressive department that efficiently serves it customers by becoming a highly strategic partner to businesses and stakeholders.
We are also mandated by the Government to ensure an efficient and effective administration of entities inter –alia the registration of businesses, industrial property, marriages, administration of estates, and public trustees, to provide customer friendly services and accurate data for national planning. Registrar General’s Department was established under the Ordinance 1950 during the Colonial days. It became a department of the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General in 1961.

SERVICES
The Registrar General’s Department carries out the following services:

  •  Registration of Limited Liability Companies.
  •  Registration of External Companies.
  •  Registration Companies Limited by Guarantee
  •  Receivership of companies
  •  Incorporation of Partnerships.
  •  Registration of Business Names.
  •  Registration of Trade Marks/Service Marks.
  •  Registration of Textile Designs of Patents/Industrial Designs/Geographical Indications.
  •  Registration of Civil Marriages.
  •  Administration of Estates/Acting as Public Trustees
  •  Payment of commuted pension and Death Gratuity
  •  Official Liquidations .data for national and economic development.

REGISTRATION PROCESSES

  • Seek advice from help desk/Client Service
  •  Purchase Forms at the Banking Section
  • Client presents three names at search both (on the Scale of preference)
  • Company Inspector approves Search
  • Client types all Forms with necessary details.
  • Forward the forms to search person approval.
  • Company Inspector quotes appropriate fees for payment approves name.
  • Client pays approved fees at the for business Registration
  • Client fills TIN Form with completed registration Forms at the submission both for processing.
  • Collection slip is issued to client for collection of completed certificate.
